I'm really back

So i'm back in the good old U.S. of A! I finished up in Paris for a few days. I went to the Musee D'Orsay and the Louvre for some marathon sessions of looking. I am currently reading the letters of Van Gogh so seeing all of his work at the Musee D'orsay was really wonderful. The letters are so much more interesting and inspiring than I would have ever thought. I think that they are a must for every artist. He was such a complex and interesting man and very different than the crazy art martyr that he's made out to be.

The Louvre has a unique collection of Corot's landscapes that he did on his early trips to Italy. I found these paintings to be so incredible and inspiring especially after I had spent my summer painting landscapes. There was also a show of his drawings and sketchbooks which were just incredible. His economy in telling you what is in nature is incredible. I have come completely full circle with my impressions of his work. I now see why people swear by him.

There is so much more to say about those two museums. But I need to get back to making work here.
