My first landscape in France

The weather here has been topsy turvy. It was very hot yesterday and today it has been raining. I was able to beat the rain and get out two studies today. The day before I did my first landscape here. I really enjoyed doing the painting standing under an apple tree to avoid the sun. I could hear all kinds of song birds singing while I painted - this is a real treat for a New Yorker. There were also the chickens and roosters from the nearby farms doing their own thing. It was just fantastic being outside doing this painting. I was also able to paint a very quick study of another part of the valley but the sun set before I had finished what I had wanted to finish.
