Neil!
This is great!
You - one piece - everyone passes the next something. You are- the creative mood. And your son - the peace. :))
(He seems like you)
And the result - very beautiful. I love how you portrayed the details. Depth and penumbra...
Neil, I looked up word "Mylar" not found. Can you tell? What paper or material you use.

Hi Ti-igra
Thank you very much for your very kind comments. About mylar - it's a nylon material that is wonderful to draw and paint on. It was used for many years in the architectural industry because you can erase completely on it and not damage the surface. this is where i normally purchase my rolls of it:

or

it's really amazing stuff to work on. I use it when I travel for pleine air painting as it's so light. it's translucent like vellum but much more durable. i hope that this helps.

Hello Neil,
I'm an artist currently living in Nebraska, {yes we have electricity, indoor plumbing, and cars , not cowboys on horseback}.
I've never "blogged" before but I feel that since you have had such an intensely positive effect on me I need to thank you. Artistically, I was pretty much withering and sinking; you pulled me right up out of the goop. Don't know how else to describe it and you weren't doing anything on purpose, just being who you are and doing what you do. If I get any more specific it might ruin it and I'm sure you have this affect on more people than you'd ever guess. Please keep blogging, painting, and loving your wife and your beatiful child. I have 3 children & 9 grandchildren: [my credentials to give advice].
I REALLY wish someone would have told me this; we feed the baby, we burp the baby. All done, yes? No. Every time there's another little bubble he'll cry until he's held upright so he can burp again. This can continue right up until the next time he eats. If only I'd known!
Thank you for all you've done for me, I hope I've given something back to you. Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,
Tomorrow is my birthday and I can think of nothing better than to have received such a wonderful posting from you as a birthday gift. I've been in that art trough as well and was pulled out by someone and am very grateful to have had another chance at this. I don't want to ruin your good feelings so I will leave it at I am very honored to have helped you in anyway. I think that is the very best that we can do as artists.

btw I'm from the midwest and have been through Nebraska and didn't see a single cowboy on horseback. And thanks for the advice on my son.
Very best to you and thank you!

It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. :)
